Radio listening happens throughout the day

Katz found that 75% of consumers listen to the radio in the car each day, while another 73% listen to audio while working. This really shows that people are listening all day long, providing multiple opportunities for advertisers to reach them.

It’s noted that the average adult, ages 18 and up, starts their day between 6 am and 7 am. It’s also noted that the daily peak for listening is between 4 pm and 6 pm, which is typically when a lot of people are going home from work.

Work from home radio listening is on the rise

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more people than ever were working from home. Katz found that 40% of work from home listeners now listen to AM or FM radio daily.

According to Katz, Audio is 14% more immersive than other forms of media and it drives more engagement and action.

Engagement is an indicator that consumers are receptive to what they are listening to and acting based on what they hear.

Radio ads drive conversions

80% of listeners trust their favorite radio personality and another 77% would try a brand recommended by that personality.

This makes sense, as radio listeners are extremely loyal and many listen to the same radio personalities every day. If that radio personality then makes a recommendation, they are going to listen and may take action.
